Insulation in Independence
Independence sits east of Kansas City in Jackson County and carries a lot of older housing stock, much of it built long before air sealing was a normal part of construction.
Older frame housing often has little or nothing in the walls and a thin, settled attic. The approach depends entirely on how the house is built, which is why we look before quoting rather than pricing a standard package over the phone.
How We Quote It
We do not price insulation over the phone. What a building needs depends on how it was built, what is already in it and where the air is actually moving, and none of that is visible from a postcode. So we come out, look, and give you a written scope. The scope is what governs the work.
Our own installers do the job, with professional rigs and full protective equipment. The estimate is free, there is no obligation, and travel to Independence is not a line item on the quote.

Not sure where to start on an older house? Call (816) 410-4111 and describe what the house is doing. On older frame housing the honest answer is usually the attic first, walls second, and we will tell you if that order is different for yours.
Questions
Common questions from Independence
My walls have no insulation at all. What can be done?
A good share of the older Independence housing stock was built before wall insulation was standard. Dense-pack through small access holes works in some wall assemblies and not others, so we look at the construction first. The attic is almost always the better opening move either way.
Is it worth insulating a house this old?
Usually, and often more so than a newer one, because the starting point is so much further back. The compact floor plans typical of older Independence houses also mean less attic area to cover for the same comfort difference.
The old insulation looks filthy. Does it have to come out?
If it is damp, rodent-contaminated or settled well below its depth, yes, because anything laid over it inherits the problem. If it is simply dusty but dry and intact, topping up is often the better value and we will say so.
Do you cover Independence and the eastern side of the metro?
Yes. Independence and the surrounding Jackson County communities are inside the regular service area.
