Attic Insulation Kansas City
Degrading insulation increases the wear and tear on your heater and air conditioner, and with energy costs rising every year, the attic is the place to save big.
Helping You Survive Every Weather
A cold attic in winter and a hot one in summer usually means degraded or improper insulation. As one of the leading insulation contractors in and around Kansas City, we do not just claim to reduce your electric costs, we mean it. We assess what is up there now, remove what has failed, and seal the attic with foam matched to the R-value this climate demands.
How Much Does Attic Insulation Cost?
It depends on the type of insulation and the size of the attic, and it can be very affordable. The honest way to find out is a free estimate: call (816) 410-4111 or see our other insulation services.
Where a Kansas City Attic Loses Its Money
This is a genuine four-season climate, so the attic is working against the house in both directions across a year. In July it runs far above the outside air and presses that heat down through the ceiling; in January the flow reverses. The dominant path in both cases is air moving through gaps at the ceiling plane: around recessed lights, at top plates, through plumbing penetrations and an unsealed attic hatch.
Ductwork Above the Ceiling
Where the air handler or duct runs sit in the attic, they are operating in the most extreme part of the building at both ends of the year. Every foot of duct up there loses conditioned air into that environment before it reaches a room, and any leak draws attic air into the system. Foam at the roof deck brings the attic inside the envelope and takes the equipment out of it, which is the clearest case for the roof line rather than the floor.
Ice Damming Is an Insulation Symptom
When warm air escapes into the attic it warms the roof deck, snow melts, the water runs to the cold eave and refreezes. The dam that forms backs water under the shingles. The damage shows up as a roofing problem but the cause is heat and air reaching the deck, which is why sealing the ceiling plane is what actually addresses it.
What the Finished Work Should Show
Depth measured and photographed where loose material went in. Consistent thickness across a roof deck where foam was applied, including the awkward runs at the eaves where coverage slips most easily. The attic hatch sealed and insulated. Penetrations sealed before anything was laid over them.
Questions
Common questions
Is attic insulation worth it in Missouri?
Yes. The attic is where most Missouri homes lose the most conditioned air, so it is usually the highest-payback area to insulate.
Do you remove the old attic insulation first?
Where the old material is settled, damp or damaged, it comes out before the new insulation goes in, and we quote that step up front.
How long does an attic project take?
Most residential attics are completed in a single day.
